‘Coastal Marvel’ campaign sees 2,000 volunteers

The Ministry of Defence participated in the Nationwide Coastline Cleanliness Campaign for Marine Debris, ‘Coastal Marvel’ yesterday.

In the Belait District, the campaign was across three beachfront with the focal venue being the scenic Pantaiku Ceria at Jalan Maulana in Belait District.

The guest of honour, Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad, was welcomed by Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force Brigadier General Haji Mohammad Shanonnizam bin Sulaiman. Similar campaigns were also held at the Lumut Beach Recreational Park and the Seria Beachfront, attended by Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman and Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann.

The campaign aims to support the initiatives of the Steering Committee on Cleanliness Issues to ensure that the Sultanate remains clean and free from litter pollution.

Across the three districts in which the campaign was held, a total of 2,000 participants collected nearly 5,946 kilogrammes of waste found along the beachfront. – Daniel Lim
