Closer look at airline industry

A total of 51 aviation students from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus visited Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) Hangar 1 in Jalan Kustin yesterday.

Led by seven teachers, the students were briefed by the Technical Training Department, where they gained insights into the roles of RB’s engineers, cabin crew and pilots.

At RB’s Centre of Excellence, the students had a closer look at the Boeing 787 and Airbus A320Neo mock aircraft, modern training facilities and make-up room for cabin crew’s grooming.

They also observed a demonstration on the slide raft and wheel bay workshop by the engineers.

The visit was organised by RB as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) to engage with the public, encourage learning and creativity as well as nurture an interest in career opportunities through sharing sessions, talks and other activities.

Meanwhile, IBTE students and teachers participated in RB’s wall mural art project, which started last December. The wall mural at the RB Campus aims to be a fixture for local students to contribute to the national carrier through artwork.
