Civil servants charged with corruption

Prosecutors pressed charges on two civil servants, including a senior government official for alleged corruption on Monday in the Bandar Magistrate’s Court. 

Based on investigations by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), prosecutors alleged that Deputy Permanent Secretary (Civil Service, Welfare, International and Media) at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Haji Muhammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu, 50, who at the time of allegation was the director of state broadcaster Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB), was purported to have received a luxury car from Jonathan Kho Chew Sen, 45, Assistant Chief of News and Current Affairs at RTB.

Jonathan is charged with gifting the luxury car as a bribe to Haji Muhammad Suffian to secure a job promotion.

No plea was recorded during the court indictment. The case was adjourned to April 25.
