Sixteen students received certificates for participating in the ‘Cintai Al-Quran’ programme organised by RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau Village Consultative Council at the Conference Hall of the Islamic Da’wah Centre yesterday.
Guest of honour Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman presented the certificates.
Minister of Religious Affairs, in his speech, hoped that the programme will create awareness to always read Al-Quran, perform daily prayers and make donations.
Event Chairman and Acting Village Head of RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau Mohammad Hilmy bin Haji Ahmad said the programme, conducted in cooperation with the Al-Huffaz Management from April until November, aimed to educate orphans and underprivileged children in reading Iqra’ and Al-Quran properly.
The chairman added that the programme will be expanded for interested village residents regardless of age.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah. It was enlivened by performances of students from the Iqra’ and Al-Quran classes, followed by the certificate presentation.
The event ended with the recitation of Doa Kesyukuran and Doa Selamat.
Legislative Council member, Village Head of Kampong Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong and Acting Village Head of Kampong Serasa Yang Berhormat Pengiran Haji Mohamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman participated.
Brunei-Muara District Officer Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim; Director of the Islamic Da’wah Centre Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh; Acting Director of Islamic Studies Haji Shamsol bin Haji Omar; Chief Executive Officer of Al-Huffaz Management Haji Mohammad Loqman Al-Hakim bin Haji Hamdan; and Acting Penghulu of Mukim Mentiri Pengiran Haji Ismail bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim were also present.
