Chinese New Year celebrated with gusto

SMILES and cheers filled the festive atmosphere as the Foochow Association, Kuala Belait held a Chinese New Year celebration at its main building in Pekan Belait recently.

Association members with families were present to celebrate the occasion through a series of fun activities and performances.

Present during the celebration was the association’s First Vice Chairperson Tan Tei Tei, Second Vice Chairperson Tong Bouy Lan, as well as several permanent honorary chairmen, honorary chairmen and committee members.

The event saw a speech by the First Vice Chairman where he welcomed the attendees.

He also highlighted the efforts made by the committee members over the past year and hoped they continue to support the association.

Following the speech, the celebration began in earnest with attendees enjoying a banquet and several performances such as wushu. Committee members dressed in caishen attire distributed chocolates in the shape of gold coins to attendees, especially the children. The children also received red envelopes (ang pao) and goodie bags by the Second Vice Chairperson. Older attendees were not left out, as many received red envelopes in a lucky draw.
