Chinese man embraces Islamic faith

Christopher Tan Chee Kuang, 32 is now known as Muhammad Effendy bin Abdullah Tan after the recitation of his Syahadah before officials at Islamic Dakwah Office in Tutong District on Thursday.

Muhd Effendy decided to convert after he began working as a civil servant. He has been wanting to convert for the past four years, and received support from his family and friends, who were Muslim or were also converts.

After receiving blessings from his parents, he underwent the ceremony and is now feeling
at peace.

Muhd Effendy hopes to gain as much knowledge in relation to the faith, and is actively learning and practicing his daily prayers to get closer to Allah the Almighty.

He said he is already used to living his life around fellow Muslims as well as converts and is confident that he will have continuous support and motivation from his family members and friends.
