James Kon

Over 20 per cent of children aged five to 11 have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, said Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference yesterday.

A total of 1,077 doses of the vaccine were administered to children in the age group on Thursday, bringing the total number of doses given to 9,316 or 21.7 per cent of the population in the age group.

Meanwhile, the coverage rate having received three doses of the vaccine has increased to 62.6 per cent.

The minister said parents and guardians are welcome to bring their children to get inoculated against the virus at vaccination centres by booking slots through the BruHealth app. They are also reminded to create and complete the authentication process for their children’s accounts in the BruHealth app in preparation for the vaccination.

In Ramadhan, vaccination centre services nationwide will operate from 8.30am to 1pm on Monday to Thursday and Saturday. They are closed every Friday, Sunday and public holiday.
