The Marine Police under the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) foiled an attempt to smuggle in chicken parts by boat last Wednesday.

The 45-year-old local suspect is being held for 14 days at the quarantine centre of the Sports Village, before being handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) for further investigation.

According to the RBPF, a Marine Police team noticed a suspicious boat while patrolling the waters near Kampong Serdang.

A chase ensued, resulting in a collision between the suspect’s boat and the Marine Police vessel.

The suspect’s boat capsized, spilling several plastic bags into the river. The police arrested the suspect, and retrieved nine plastic bags containing chicken parts believed to have been brought in from a neighbouring country.

The public is urged to provide information of any criminal activity by contacting the hotline at 993, or going directly to the nearest police station.
