The Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam yesterday held a certificate presentation ceremony for participants of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) – language level N1 to N5 – conducted on December 1, 2019.
Deputy Chief of Mission/Counsellor in the Embassy of Japan to Brunei Darussalam Abe Hiroshi presented the certificates and encouraged participants to continue studying the language.
The JLPT has been offered by the Japan Foundation since 1984 as a reliable means of evaluating and certifying the proficiency of non-native Japanese speakers. In Brunei, the JLPT was launched in 2008, and has been held every December since then.
Last year, 52 people took the JLPT. Of that, 20 people passed, including two – Desmond Chin Shiunyean and Chung Ming Hui – at level N1, which is the highest level.
