International School Brunei (ISB) marked the official opening of the ISB Centre for Inclusive Learning at F5 Panaga recently.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin and Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd (BSP) and Shell Country Chair in Brunei Agnete Johnsgaard-Lewis were present.
ISB Executive Principal Laura Thomas thanked BSP, the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the local community for their support.
She said the centre has a team of professionals offering an individualised learning programme to support the students’ holistic development with predominantly developmental skills-based approach.
“Our curriculum is tailored to promote structured and positive interactions with peers so that each child can feel good about themselves while also developing an understanding of others. As part of our commitment to authentic inclusion and an international school experience, there is a broad range of activities organised that enable our students to join ISB Seria, and for their students to join us.
“This link is hugely important. These experiences will support our students in gaining confidence in working in larger groups and different situations, allowing for generalisation and consolidation of their skills.
Our aim at the Centre for Inclusive Learning is to not only to develop academic learning skills but also to build all-important interest and engagement in the environment and functional life skills.”
ISB Board of Directors Chairman Ahmad Isa and Johnsgaard-Lewis planted saplings to commemorate the event after a tour of the centre’s classrooms and facilities.
