Yau Moi Tee, 101, is the oldest woman in Brunei Darussalam to have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine yesterday.

Yau came to the Indoor Stadium Vaccination Centre accompanied by her daughter Soon Ai Chin.

“It is the right thing to do to curb the outbreak. Everyone of all ages need to play our part as citizens of Brunei Darussalam.

“We should play our part by getting vaccinated to protect ourselves and others,” she told the Bulletin.

“Most importantly by being vaccinated, I can minimise the risks of COVID-19 and get to see my family, especially my grand and great-grandchildren.”

Yau has 11 children, 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She advised those who are yet to get inoculated to trust the government and get vaccinated as soon as possible.

“Only together we can overcome this pandemic,” she added.
