Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) Primary School organised a Teacher’s Day celebration yesterday.
YSHHB Primary School Acting CEO and Headmistress Hajah Mariam binti Haji Ladi was present.
Laughter filled the air as more than 1,000 Years 1-6 students – who wore shirts with inspirational quotes about teachers and teaching – reacted to their teachers’ comical performances.
The school choir belted out the iconic teacher’s day hit, Guru Oh Guru during the event.
The event ended with a photo session and students lining up to pay respects to their elders.
Meanwhile, DST organised a Teacher’s Day celebration event at Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College (MSPSBS) yesterday.
MSPSBS received the most votes of 15 schools by the public in DST’s recent Teacher’s Day campaign on Instagram from September 21-24.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of DST Radin Sufri bin Radin Basiuni and members of the DST team welcomed the teachers during the event The Acting CEO of DST said, “Teachers play an important role in everyone’s lives and DST came up with the Teacher’s Day campaign to show our appreciation and to celebrate teachers by giving them a treat at their school.”
MSPSBS Principal Susilawati binti Dato Paduka Haji Muhammad thanked the students of the school and members of the public who voted for MSPSBS. She also thanked DST for organising the campaign and event.
During the celebration, teachers were entertained with fun games as well as team building activities by DST and McDonald’s Brunei. The teachers won prizes from DST including a lucky draw prize.
DST will also visit the remaining top 14 schools – Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan; Raja Isteri Girls High School; St Andrew’s School; Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre; Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School; Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School; Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School; Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Secondary School; Tanjong Maya Secondary School; St Angela’s School; Seri Mulia Sarjana School; Stella’s School; Al-Falaah School; and Dato Ratna Haji Mohd Jaafar Primary School.
In another event, Katok ‘A’ Primary School organised their Teacher’s Day celebration at the school’s hall.
The teachers and students dressed up in their nicest clothes to mark the occasion.
Headmistress Hajah Azizah binti Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Headmistress (Administration) Norshidah binti Haji Md Noor, Deputy Headmaster (Academic) Md NaruIswandy bin Haji Samaih and Chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) Sabrina binti Abdullah were present.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Teacher’s Day Doa.
The students performed songs and dance to enliven the celebration. Quizzes were also carried out for the teachers.
The celebration ended with a video presentation and the students greeting their teachers and showering them with gifts.
Elsewhere, more than 20 members of the Azkayra Dikir group conducted a religious event to commemorate Teacher’s Day Celebration at one of the members’ residence in RPN Kampong Meragang.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, Dikir and Tausyeh. A presentation of a token of appreciation to Dikir instructor Nurul Iffah Amalina binti Omar was also held.
