TO CELEBRATE the contributions and achievements of women in Brunei, Big BWN Project organised the Womennovation Brunei event at Dilmah T-Lounge in Batu Satu recently.
Present to deliver a keynote address was Co-founder and Deputy Managing Director of Syarikat Pakar Tenaga Bersatu Normawati @ Mawar binti Dato Paduka Haji Othman. She highlighted the major changes in innovation and technology brought about by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which provides a level playing field for women to enter and be recognised for their contributions and achievement.
“Brunei Darussalam is no different from the rest of the worlds in terms of being affected (by the Fourth Industrial Revolution),” she said, adding that strengthening human capacity and competence of people to generate economic growth are both visions found in the Brunei Vision 2035.
“To stay relevant means to keep abreast with the latest technological developments and advancement,” she noted.
Founder of Womennovation Brunei Noorhafizah binti Haji Rashid said the event was the second empowerment initiative under Big BWN Project. It aimed to act as a platform to give opportunities to local women by recognising their contributions to innovation, through sharing of views and engaging with others publicly; and also creating access to resources and broaden their network across areas beyond their comfort zones.
Four local inspiring women who came from different backgrounds also shared their success stories namely, Normawati, Fydah Ramle, Siti Abidah, Nazurah Usop and Nazy Sam.
