Acting Director of the Department of Scholarship Management Rosimah Sumaimah binti Haji Matassim congratulated each scholarship recipient during the scholarship award and agreement signing ceremony at the Auditorium Hall of Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah yesterday.
“Your hard work, dedication and perseverance have brought you to this momentous occasion. Today is not just about the end of one educational phase; it marks the beginning of a promising future filled with opportunities and new horizons.” The ceremony’s chairperson also highlighted the strict process that the recipients had to go through.
“I want to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of these students. They didn’t just get here by chance; they went through a rigorous selection process. They are among the higher achievers and they participated in a two-day camp at the Outward-Bound Brunei Darussalam (OBBD) where they demonstrated not just their academic abilities but also their teamwork, leadership, and adaptability.”
Following the camp, she added, “they faced written exams in both Mathematics and English. These exams were conducted by the Singapore Examination and Assessment Board. The process ensured that the selected students not only have strong academic skills but also possess the qualities needed to thrive in a new and challenging environment.”
As a small ambassador to Brunei, she reminded that the recipients will continue to uphold the Malay Islamic Monarchy, the principles and values of Brunei.
“Carry the torch of your identity, knowledge, integrity, and excellence with pride. Your success not only reflects on your individual achievements but also on the education systems of Brunei and Singapore.” – James Kon
