The Brunei Red Crescent Society (BRC), through its Brunei Red Crescent Humanitarian Aid Action Body, organised a one-day carnival to raise funds for the Turkiye and Syria Earthquake Humanitarian Fund at Annajat Complex yesterday.

BRC President Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yussof bin Pengiran Haji Bahar and ATHA Sdn Bhd Managing Director Datin Hajah Norayati binti Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Mohd Nawawi officiated the event.

Among the activities were a colouring competition with prizes sponsored by McDonald’s Brunei and a Tausyeh performance.

The event saw 20 vendors selling products ranging from handicraft to food and beverages.

The participants were members of the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) Consortium and Youth Religious programme as well as Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam’s (BIBD) Seed programme.

Elsouq.bn founder Mohd Elwendy bin Mohd Fadillah said he was invited to join the carnival by the PDI. He sold darbuka, a goblet drum which is a traditional musical instrument.

He also took the opportunity to perform his religious obligation of giving alms to the needy by contributing part of the sales to the fund.
