Six former inmates were given a fresh start in life by getting employment in a car wash operated by Aftercare Support Association (AFSA) at Sumbangsih Mulia.

The site was officially handed over by Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin to Aftercare Support Association (AFSA) Advisor Dato Jack Ting yesterday.

Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin launched the car wash previously under  Reintegration Centre.

Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin has sponsored the site since 2016, realising the need for former inmates to start afresh by having a stable income.

AFSA Deputy President Haji Mustapa bin Haji Masri said, “The car wash workshop started operations since 2016 under the administration of Reintegration Centre. On December 1, 2022, the management and administration of the workshop was handed over to AFSA.”

The association also provides free consultation in prison and provides plans and activities for self-development, building of self-confidence, and positive development to former inmates.

“AFSA helps former inmates look for employment with companies that have collaborations with the association and Reintegration Centre,“ he said.

Also in attendance at the launch were AFSA President Hajah Juhana binti Haji Mohd Jaya and other officials.
