A LOCAL man who pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing a car was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment by the Bandar Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
The court was informed that Mohammad Fadzley bin Yahya, 38, and another accomplice had hijacked a car in the vicinity of the Teguh Raya Department Store at about 7am on June 8.
The car owner was away, but his friend lodged a police report the same morning, upon discovering the vehicle was missing.
Later in the evening, the friend came across the stolen car in the parking lot of the RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan Mosque and notified the police.
The defendant’s accomplice was given a prison sentence last week in a separate court hearing.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Raihan Nabilah binti Haji Ahmad Ghazali appeared for the prosecution.
