Car catches fire in highway accident

James Kon

A vehicle burst into flames on Monday night following an accident with another vehicle on the highway towards the Jerudong Petrol Station.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD), seven firefighters from the Jerudong Fire Station, led by ASO Saini bin Gapor, were dispatched to the incident site after receiving an emergency call at 5.31am.

The drivers of both vehicles had evacuated before the firefighters arrived. The cause and damages are under investigation.

One driver sustained an injury as confirmed by Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital’s Emergency Unit.

The FRD advised the public to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition and to regularly check the wiring system.

Road users must ensure that modifications or additions to the electrical system of the engine and car accessories are in accordance with regulatory standards as high electric current could cause cables to burn.
