A CAR driven by a local man along the highway caught fire yesterday.
The driver did not sustain any injuries in the incident.
The driver was heading to the Kampong Rimba housing area when it caught fire.
Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) officers who received the distress call at 1pm, dispatched three fire engines with 14 fire fighters led by Deputy Station Officer ASFR Pengiran Noor Faridahwati binti Pengiran Seri Maharaja Pengiran Anak Omar Alli and an officer.
The firefighters doused the fire which had spread inside the car. It is believed that the fire had started from the fuse box.
The damage was estimated at around BND3,000.
In light of the incident, the FRD reminded the public to ensure that their vehicles are in a good condition.
Vehicle owners were also told to check for leakages that could cause a fire and to entrust the modification of the engine’s electrical system or wiring to qualified mechanics.
