A car suddenly burst into flames as the owner was driving through Kampong Jerudong area on Tuesday.
The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) said the car’s engine section was ablaze when personnel from the Operation ‘F’ Branch at the Jerudong Fire Station arrived at 8.20am.
Led by ASO Metusin bin Haji Menudin, it took the team three minutes to extinguish the fire.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are under investigation.
The public is urged to ensure that their vehicles are in working condition, and to perform regular checks on the wiring system.
Car owners should also inspect their vehicles for pump leakages, which could cause flammable liquid to seep into the engine block or electrical system.
Road users must ensure that modifications or additions to the vehicle’s electrical system, as well as the installation of car accessories, are carried out by accredited workshops.
