Brunei-Muara District residents thronged Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien to greet and convey warm wishes to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the get-together ceremony yesterday.
The event was held in conjunction with His Majesty’s 75th birthday celebration after a year’s hiatus due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
Upon arrival, His Majesty and members of the royal family were greeted by Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Chairman of the National Executive Committee for His Majesty’s 75th birthday celebration; Commissioner of Royal Brunei Police Force, Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretary, acting deputy permanent secretary and Brunei-Muara District Officer.
Following the national anthem, His Majesty and members of the royal family witnessed a colourful performance titled Raja Tersohor Kegemilangan Rakyat that was divided into four segments, involving 200 performers.
After the 10-minute performance, His Majesty and royal entourage went on stage to meet with the performers. His Majesty then mingled with residents of the district.
The event extended along Jalan Sultan where His Majesty and members of the royal family met students waving flags and then proceeded to the Lapau for a lunch reception.
