Dr Pengiran Asyura Salleh and Mohammed Naveed Khan along with local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) organised a weekend camp to address challenges faced by youth. As a young, active, and committed foundation, Project Bina Ukhwah (PBU) provided an ideal partner to help make this contribution by holding Wira Camp, its first ever youth camp at Sungai Kebun Sports Complex from September 6-8. The camp hosted 29 participants from all walks of life, between the ages of 14-21 years old.
Wira Camp’s objective was to harness the energy of the youth and teach them how to channel it into meaningful outcomes for themselves and others around them. Activities were designed to push participants out of their comfort zones and to break self-limitations.
Participants were kept busy during an activity-packed weekend. The activities ranged from The Amazing Race at Jerudong Park, to breaking emotional and mental barriers by encouraging participants to share their problems and troubles around a campfire.
The participants had unflagging levels of energy and enthusiasm, giving their full participation. Several participants showed improvement during the short duration of the camp, evolving from being quiet and shy to open, friendly and confident individuals.
Participants also received awards for Best Male, Best Female and Most Improved Individual.
