Camp boosts students’ leadership skills

ST ANGELA’S Convent School, Seria together with the Rotary Club of Belait organised a Leadership Camp held at the Multipurpose Hall, Seria on March 16.

Fifty-two students from St Angela’s and four from St John’s School aged 12-17 attended the one-day leadership camp themed ‘Power Up the Leader Within You’.

The programme aimed at educating students on the key of leadership, which was all about self-management.

The camp began with a welcoming remark from the Principal of St Angela’s Convention School, Chea Wann Ching. After that, the District Governor Elect (DGE), Jeff Yong, briefed the participants about the purpose of the Rotary Club and discussed the criteria of a good leader.

The students participated in the leadership building activities and listened to motivational talks illustrating team building and leadership principles conducted by an invited facilitator, Professor Jovice Lee.

This camp provided students the opportunity to develop leadership and communication skills, set goals, practise time management techniques and learn how to collaborate more effectively in teams. During the workshop, students learnt that, “Being a good leader comes from growing yourself first.”

The programme ended with a prize and certificate presentation to all participants by the Principal Chea Wann Ching. – Jona Kong Zong Na Y10Sc
