Some 100 people attended a charity dinner organised by WeCare in conjunction with Syrian Warm Winter 2.0 project at Perdana Minah Hall of Al-Afiah Hotel in Kiulap on Saturday night.
The dinner commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by opening remarks by WeCare Public Relations Officer Waajidun Niam bin Haji Dollah, followed by a religious briefing by Hajah Siti
Hanisah binti Haji Othman.The event aimed to raise awareness regarding the conflict affecting Syria in the hopes that more people will contribute in giving aid for Syrian refugees in Turkey.
Attendees were brought closer to understand the real struggles affecting Syrian refugees, especially during the harsh winter season. Footage of the refugee camps, performances and exclusive sharing by WeCare representatives for Lebanon were also shown.
WeCare is targetting BND200,000 to give warmth to 40,000 Syrian refugees. The public contributions to the project started on November 6, 2019 and will end on January 31. Donations can be made through BIBD Mobile – Bill Payment, Progresif Pay or Cash Deposit Machine. The contributions will be directed to the purchase of items needed by the Syrian refugees in Turkey this winter.
