The Brunei Fuzhou Shiyyi Association will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year and its president Jackson Ting called on members and executive committee members to come together to further support the association’s activities.
Ting said this during the Brunei Fuzhou Shiyyi Association’s annual general meeting (AGM) on Monday night at the association’s multipurpose hall at Jalan Pasir, Berakas.
“The AGM was initially scheduled to be held in October last year, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
He added, “In the past year, the coronavirus has caused several activities to take a hiatus such as the Mid-Autumn Festival celebration and New Year celebration. Even so, we all have to face the challenges bravely, positively and optimistically. Difficulties and setbacks are all part of our life journey. We can enhance and improve our abilities, during these challenging time”.
Ting also said, “Everyone has become accustomed to wearing masks when going out, and using hand sanitiser. Residing in Brunei Darussalam, we must abide by the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the Ministry of Health. Hopefully, the pandemic will be eradicated this year. The Brunei Fuzhou Shiyyi Association has entered its 10th year of existence. The past nine years have been magnificent and I thank the consultants, directors, women as well as youth leagues and members for their unity in building our home (association) together. If we can unite together, we can better address and overcome challenges.”
He also hoped that all members and executive committee will work together to create a better future, deepen solidarity as well as strengthen culture and combine the wisdom from all walks of life to further develop the association and help local community.
He called on all members to participate and contribute to the association and community through not only financial supports but also time and efforts.
Some 91 executive committee members and members attended the event including Brunei Fuzhou Shiyyi Association Deputy President Dr Andy Lau Sie Chuong.
The meeting was held in compliance with the public health measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
