A few days ago, there was a viral message on two houses in Kampong Keriam in the Tutong District being broken into, and one of the photos showed enforcement personnel in the vicinity.
As a resident, I haven’t been able to have a restful night since that day. Many of us are retirees and safety is of utmost importance to us. The fact that the authorities haven’t responded to the viral message is a growing concern.
We don’t want to let our imagination run wild, but the lack of assurance from the authorities has resulted in many sleepless nights. We can’t shake off all these questions circling in our minds, such as “Is there an investigation into the break-ins?”, “Why haven’t the authorities addressed the viral message yet?” and “Have the perpetrators been caught?”
We understand that it takes time to carry out a thorough investigation, but even an advisory would have been helpful; it would have made us feel like our well-being has been taken into consideration. Instead, we are completely in the dark. We can’t help but think of the worst case scenario: it is the beginning of a series of break-ins.
We hope that the authorities could hear our plight and address the viral message instead of sweeping it under the rug, as though with enough time, we the residents would forget it ever happened.
