It is a mix of disappointment and shock to read that our national blood bank is constantly running low on supplies.
The issue needs to be fixed to ensure those who need blood receive it. Without sufficient blood supplies, operations may fail, putting a lot of lives at stake.
In response, the blood bank works has been working hard to organise donation drives, and even try to make its message go viral on social media to spur more donors. But even these are not long-term solutions. Perhaps the issue lies in the operating hours of the blood bank.
Perhaps it would be better if it opens during lunch, to allow those of us who work to be able to make time for blood donation.
In order to compensate the staff for the lack of a lunch break, the blood donation could close its door at 3pm.
I believe that opening the blood bank during the lunch hour would attract more donors, thus solving the low blood supply issue that has been plaguing the country for years.
