Cable theft, drug abuse trial fixed for August 11

More light has been shed into a cable theft case upon the completion of police investigations against a local man on further charges of drug abuse.

Romei bin Abdul Rahman yesterday pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing underground cables from an open field near Substation 22 on Jalan Binglu Tengah, Kampong Tanah Jambu sometime between January and June and consuming methylamphetamine on January 16, 2013 while denying charges of possession of over nine grammes of nimetazepam and over four grammes of methylamphetamine.

Acting Senior Magistrate Pengiran Hazirah binti Pengiran Haji Mohd Yusof reserved handing sentence on the two charges to the defendant until the conclusion of trial on the remaining two charges of drug abuse.

The court fixed August 11 to set trial dates. DPP Ahmad Firdaus bin Mohammad prosecuted the case.
