Moving into the next phase, businesses must now seek out and seize the opportunities emerging in the recovery.

This was said by Acting Managing Director and CEO of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) Hajah Noraini binti Haji Sulaiman in reference to the COVID-19 pandemic that has unleashed extensive socio-economic impacts, putting millions of companies at risk of being forced out of business.

Speaking at the ASEAN Business Awards 2021 last evening, she further noted that as the global economy gradually finds its way out of pandemic with businesses continue to bear the brunt of economic shock and punctuated with the uncertainly of a recovery that is made even more apparent with new variants, clusters and case spikes.

“However, as we begin to see nations and economies emerge from the shadow of COVID-19, it is certainly a time to look forward with hope and begin exploring how we in the business community can *Recover, Stronger, Together, Sama-Sama.”

“As the largest financial institution in Brunei, BIBD is honoured to be a Lead Sponsor for these awards, which we believe is vital in celebrating businesses resilience in what has been a most challenging period. BIBD hopes that all businesses being celebrated here tonight will be well-placed to capitalise more effectively on the opportunities rising in the post COVID-19 recovery, and continue winning their marketplaces as greater certainty and stability return, Hajah Noraini concluded.
