The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) issued fines and warning notices to five businesses for the sale of telecommunications equipment and operation of walkie-talkies without proof of licences and approvals.
One business was found selling telecommunications equipment without a valid dealer’s licence and for operating walkie-talkies without the required licence in violation of Section 34(1) and Section 35(1) of the Telecommunications Order, 2001.
The business was issued two fines amounting to BND1,400.
Three other businesses were also found to be operating walkie-talkies without a licence, each being issued BND700 each.
All businesses were issued warning notices for failure to obtain the approvals from AITI pursuant to Section 9 of the Telecommunications Order, 2001. – Azlan Othman
