    Bursting with flavour

Enjoying food is an art that engages our senses and brings us immense pleasure. It begins with savouring the aroma that wafts through the air, arousing anticipation. As we take our first bite, we explore a symphony of flavours teasing our taste buds, noting the subtle nuances and bold contrasts. The textures unfold, from crispy to creamy, tender to crunchy, adding depth to the experience.

We delight in the visual presentation, appreciating the vibrant colours and artistic arrangement. Each mouthful is a journey, an opportunity to be fully present and embrace the moment, allowing the flavours to captivate us.

Whether savouring a simple home-cooked meal or indulging in a gourmet feast, the key to enjoying food lies in mindfulness, gratitude, and the sheer joy of nourishing both the body and soul.

Returning from an extended absence of recipe contributions and stepping away from a series of earnest articles, I am delighted to bring forth something more whimsical. I have resurfaced with a newfound well of inspiration, compelling me to embark on a thrilling culinary expedition.

This journey involves the exploration of a variety of fresh and captivating ingredients, which I am excited to share with our readers: A prawn burger recipe.

One day, feeling a sense of monotony from repeatedly making beef or chicken burgers, I stumbled upon a brilliant idea. As luck would have it, I had prawns stocked in my freezer, waiting to be transformed into delectable burger patties.

Similar to my past recipes, the proportions of ingredients for this dish rely on the ancestral whispers of culinary intuition. However, I must confess that it would be beneficial for me to begin measuring the ingredients, providing readers with clearer instructions on how to recreate the dishes I share.

The ingredients required are prawns, salt, pepper, breadcrumbs, eggs, all-purpose flour and a selection of herbs to enhance the flavour. Let’s also not forget the burger bun. If you have a blender or a food processor, it will come in handy for this recipe.

To create one patty, I found that six medium-sized prawns are ideal.

If you want a more flavourful prawn burger, you can prepare your own sauce by blending grated carrots, cabbage, salt, pepper, herbs and mayonnaise to make a sort of coleslaw sauce. Keep in mind that different brands of mayonnaise may impart varying tastes.

Firstly, prep the prawns by removing the shells and deveining them before placing them into a blender or food processor. Add the salt, pepper, herbs, blended shallots and garlic to the food processor.

Once thoroughly blended, heat a frying pan. You can use oil or opt for butter to impart a richer flavour.

While waiting for the oil to heat, prepare the patties. To ensure that the breadcrumbs adhere to the prawn mixture, coat it with all-purpose flour, then dip it in eggs and then breadcrumbs. If you wish to save the patties for later, you can store them in the freezer. I found that the patties tend to cook better when taken straight from the freezer.

To prevent the patties from sticking together during frying, you can stack them with a layer of baking paper in between.

Once the oil is heated, place the patty in the pan and fry until the breadcrumbs turn a golden colour. Flip it over to make sure the other side is also well-cooked.

Place a patty on a burger bun and top it with the coleslaw sauce. You can also add on your favourite hot sauce or other condiments to your liking.

And the end result? A satisfying meal to enjoy on your own or with friends or family. – Izah Azahari
