Building ordered closed for unsound structure

The Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi) issued a Closure Order on May 6 under Section 35(2)(b) of the Building Control Order 2014 (BCO) against a building owner in Mile One, Jalan Tutong after determining that the building structure to
be dangerous.

The building was used to store broken and unwanted materials. ABCi ordered the building to be boarded up to prevent entry. ABCi had also ordered for the parking area located on top of the building to be fenced off for public safety.

The building owner had complied with ABCi’s orders.

The ABCi reminded that anyone found entering the building can be charged for an offence under Section 36(4) BCO, which carries a BND10,000 fine or a maximum of one year’s jail or both.
