The one-day event, organised by DST and Google Developers Group (GDG) Brunei, dissected topics related to the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

It brought together Google Developer experts from Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP), Indonesia’s GOJEK and Politeknik Brunei to discuss areas on Machine Learning on the Web, Why Data Science and Kickstarting Data Science, Google Cloud Platform, TensorFlow as well as a local developers’ showcase session.

DST Head of Relationship Management Freddie Ting said, “Digital technology is rapidly developing in diverse fields – be it mobile communications, robotics, AI and the Internet of Things. We are now entering the 4th Industrial Revolution and are already experiencing profound change that new technologies bring to the way we work, live and interact.”

He added, “Building human resources with the right skills is a key driving force for digital transformation. Digital literacy is essential for people to take advantage of new job opportunities and benefit from the services that will become available on the digital platform.”

Meanwhile, Google Developers Group Brunei President and EICO founder Afiq Mohammed said, “Aside from equipping the youth with the latest technological skills, it is crucial to connect them with the right network and community to expand professionally. We don’t just want them to learn by the book but instead, be more valuable by using practical technologies to solve real life challenges.”
