Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) handed over medical equipment, including a mobile ultrasound unit, to Suri Seri Begawan Hospital (SSBH), Kuala Belait on Wednesday.
BSP Managing Director Dr Ceri M Powell presented the contribution to SSBH Chief Executive Officer Borhan bin Haji Hamdan at Learning and Development Centre of SSBH.
The donation is part of the company’s staff-driven #BSPCares campaign launched earlier this year. In April, BSP launched #BSP100 to raise funds for 100 beds. Contributions exceeded expectations and 110 beds were donated to the new National Isolation Centre (NIC) in Tutong District. The remaining contributions were used to buy equipment for SSBH. “We are humbled to present this donation to SSBH today on behalf of all the BSP staff who contributed towards the #BSPCares initiative.
“While this initiative was kicked off as a COVID-19 relief effort, we are glad to be able to continue supporting the Ministry of Health (MoH). Although the world is currently focussed on battling the COVID-19 pandemic, the contributions provided by BSP staff aim to provide long-term service for SSBH that will benefit patients beyond the pandemic,” said Dr Powell.
BSP Corporate Manager Haji Jaafar bin Haji Bakar, senior officers and staff from SSBH and BSP were also present.
