The unveiling of two new fuel variants to the Brunei market – the Shell V-Power Gasoline and Shell V-Power Diesel – marked exactly 20 years since Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sdn Bhd (BSM) introduced a new fuel into the Brunei market.

In his welcoming speech to mark yet another milestone for BSM at the launching of the new Shell products at The Empire Brunei in Jerudong yesterday, BSM Managing Director Muhammad Norshafiee bin Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil said the premium fuel is the result of extensive research and development between Shell and Ferrari, with extensive tests over three million kilometres, in varying road conditions on over 250 different cars.

“Shell V-Power allows your engines to operate at their optimal best and be more effective in providing fuel efficiency and power,” he added.

Despite the launch of the new products, the Managing Director said that they would not be replacing any existing products at BSM retail stations, as the Shell V-Power gasoline and diesel will be added to the existing range to offer more choice to customers.

He also said that the prices of the V-Power fuels would be reviewed regularly, to ensure that they remain competitive regionally.

When they go on sale later this week, both V-Power gasoline and diesel will be priced at 82 cents per litre.

In a product briefing, Shell Fuel Scientist Colin Chin had highlighted Shell V-Power as Shell’s latest performance-enhancing and efficient fuel, formulated to cleanse an engine of its key adversary – dirt deposits.

Generally compatible with any vehicles, its key features enables friction reduction through molecules, improved engine combustion and removal of carbon deposits.

“For customers who want more – more performance, more efficiency, more protection for their engines – for customers who really love their cars and who want to maintain or maximise their cars’ potential, then Shell V-Power is for you,” said Muhammad Norshafiee.

“To complement the Shell V-Power fuels, BSM is also introducing a lubricant co-engineered for the ultimate engine power and performance, the Shell Helix Power lubricant.

“As BSM reaches a milestone of 60 years of operations in Brunei, we are constantly exploring ways to innovate our business and enhance customers’ experience. We are looking into offering alternative energy solutions such as EV charging, as well as bringing customised non-fuel products while leveraging on digitalisation, all-geared towards offering convenience to our customers.”

Shell V-Power Gasoline will be available at 14 retail stations, while Shell V-Power Diesel will be available at seven retail stations.

Following yesterday’s launch, BSM will organise roadshows with the aim of pre-selling Shell V-Power fuel vouchers to market the new product, which will be available to the public on February 16.
