Brunei’s SDGs 2022 annual report published

The Prime Minister’s Office, as the Secretariat of the Special National Coordinating Committee of Sustainable Development Goals (JKPK SDGs), has published the Brunei Darussalam SDGs Annual Report for 2022 in collaboration with members of the JKPK SDGs and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) – BruWILD, Sustainable Ocean Alliance and My Actions for SDGs.

The report shares national progress on goals which are aligned to the theme of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in 2022.

The theme for HLPF in 2022 was ‘Building back better from the coronavirus diseases (COVID-19) while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’.

The report finds the achievements so far were significant to build back better for the pursuit of sustainability.

The contribution from stakeholders, especially NGOs, was found to be instrumental in driving the sustainable agenda.

The report contains a special feature on the contribution by one of the NGOs, My Actions for SDGs which has been playing an active role.

Several measures have been implemented to further improve the alignment, monitoring, and harmonisation of the SDGs with the national agenda including strengthening data monitoring capacity and communication plan along with greater partnership locally and internationally.

In tandem with these efforts, the report highlights the whole-of-nation process to produce the Second Voluntary National Review, a report on national progress in implementing the SDGs, for submission at the HLPF in July 2023.

The Brunei Darussalam SDGs Annual Report 2022 is available at www.pmo.gov.bn/sdg_brunei.
