Brunei’s Hirdan wins gold in ASEAN Para Games

Brunei Darussalam’s para-athlete Hirdan bin Haji Abdul Kadir bagged a gold medal in the men’s shot-put F56 event at the 11th ASEAN Para Games in Solo, Indonesia.

The national athlete recorded a best score of 8.44 points in his fourth attempt to take gold.

He also claimed the silver medal in the men’s javelin F56 event with a score of 20.45 points. National teammate Shari bin Haji Juma’at added bronze in the men’s javelin F54- F55 event to his vast collection of medals, with Zainul Wardi bin Haji Tarip replicating similar success in the men’s discus F35- F37 event.

Shari, who has experience competing in major tournaments, posted a best mark of 22.11 points to secure bronze, behind gold medallist Vietnam’s Kieu Minh and Indonesia’s Riadi.
