Brunei’s active COVID cases drop further

Brunei Darussalam’s active COVID-19 cases have dropped further to 740 yesterday with 11 patients being treated at hospitals and 729 cases undergoing home self-isolation.

Some 102 cases were detected yesterday with 84 from antigen rapid test (ART) and 18 from 639 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

This was revealed by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the daily press conference yesterday. The minister said 181 cases were declared recovered, bringing the total recoveries to 140,892, adding that one case is in Category 5, requiring treatment at the intensive care unit, and no patients are currently in Category 4.

Meanwhile, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham said 216 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered to children aged five to 11 on Friday, bringing the number of children in the age group with a dose of the vaccine to 20,647 (48.1 per cent).

Some 131 children received the second dose, bringing the tally to 963 (2.5 per cent).

The COVID-19 booster rate stands at 65.3 per cent.
