Petrofac’s Bruneian graduates Mohammad Hassan, Muhammad Hafiz bin Muhammad Hussin, Lim Ming and Lau Han attended the 2019 Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
As technical support services to Serikandi Oilfield Services Sdn Bhd, Petrofac manages and provides Engineering and Design Services for Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd (BSP) as well as Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd.
The Bruneian graduates were in the UAE as part of Petrofac’s 2019 graduate development programmes where they managed an exhibition booth and met Petrofac’s business and operational leaders. They also participated in interactive demonstrations showcasing the ways the company are combining engineering and operations know-how with digital technology.
They also visited the Takatuf Petrofac Oman (TPO) facility in Muscat and were exposed to the latest technologies and were trained at the state-of-the-art training centre.
Mohammad Hassan said, “The programme has provided us with an opportunity to learn and improve both soft and technical skills. I now have a much better understanding of how Petrofac delivers innovative and practical solutions to tackle challenges.
“The trip to Takatuf Petrofac Oman provided us with exposure on how oil and gas refineries operate. Assigning several experts from different engineering disciplines to walk us through the live plant set up meant that we were able to apply the knowledge gained from university in real-life situations,” he added
The four Bruneians are continuing their training at one of Petrofac’s Operational Centre in Sharjah at UAE where they will continue Petrofac’s graduate development programme run by Petrofac Academy – the company’s in-house centre of excellence for employee development.
Since the programme launched in 2004, Petrofac has employed over 1,500 graduates, many of whom are still with the company. The Bruneian graduates represent a part of the 2019 cohort made up of 14 different nationalities.
