Bruneian seafood products on show in China

VARIOUS seafood products from Brunei were on display yesterday at the marine seafood industry collaboration signing event between Brunei and China in Beijing.

The seafood products were launched under a co-branding arrangement between °C FRESH – a sub-brand of Pure Fresh International Holdings Limited – and bruneihalalfoods. A ceremony to open the Brunei National Pavilion on JD.com, China’s largest online retailer, was also held.

In attendance at the event was Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah.

“The Brunei National Pavilion provides an opportunity for products made in Brunei to be marketed in China via JD.com’s platform and hence allow greater exposure to various high-quality food products from Brunei,” the minister said in his remarks at the event. “Furthermore, the event is one of the results of the longstanding relationship between companies from Brunei and China, and we hope for such collaborations to continue.”

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Brunei Industrial Investment Holdings Co Ltd Eyan Ou in his opening remarks noted that there are “remarkable synergies” to be accomplished from this collaboration by leveraging on each partner’s strengths and resources such as brand reputation, market knowledge, research capabilities, distribution channels, fresh farms as well as cutting-edge retail model and technology.

“The active participation from the various parties will ensure consumers (always have access to) the highest quality of Halal products from Brunei, and this represents a key component for the success of the marine seafood industry.”

Senior Director of 7FRESH Business Development at JD.com Yishen Tang gave his support towards the launch of the Brunei National Pavilion on JD.com.

“JD.com’s robust capabilities enable the company to provide its partners with the necessary infrastructure to succeed in the Chinese market,” he said, adding that JD is committed to bringing the best products and brands from Brunei as well as the rest of the world to Chinese consumers.

During the event, strategic cooperation agreements were signed between Pure Fresh International Holdings Limited and Pure Fresh (B) Sdn Bhd, and CCIC Traceability Technology Service Co Ltd, Sinochem Capital Investment Management Limited and Guangdong Shunde Rural Commercial Bank Company Limited to create a transaction system to ensure the success of the Brunei National Pavilion.
