Bruneian delegation leaves for Manila teachers’ convention

A DELEGATION comprising 18 Brunei Malay Teachers Association (PGGMB) members left for Manila, the Philippines to participate in the 34th ASEAN Council of Teachers (ACT+1) Convention.

The delegation was led by PGGMB President Haji Antin bin Ahad. The convention will conclude on September 16.

Themed ‘Strengthening the Hallmarks of Excellence in Education through ASEAN+1 Integration’, the convention covers wide aspects of educational challenges in promoting quality education.

The discussion will focus on strategic areas including lifelong learning, education in emergencies, ICT instruction, and teachers and learners’ welfare and protection.

Principal of Meragang Sixth Form Centre Zarina binti Haji Kadir will present a keynote paper at the convention.

Other participating countries include Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Vietnam and Korea. The annual ACT+1 Convention promotes regional cooperation among teachers associations from ASEAN member countries.

It is hosted alternately among the ACT member countries. Brunei Darussalam is expected to host the 35th ACT+1 Convention in September 2019.
