Brunei Darussalam’s para bowling athletes put the country in the international sporting map after securing the silver medals in the Thailand Open Para Bowling Championships 2022 at the Blu-O Rhythm and Bowl, Siam Paragon in Bangkok, Thailand recently.
The silver medal came from national trio Md Jamary bin Danggat, Saidin bin Haji Damit and Md Kamarul Ariffin bin Haji Abdul Ghaffar after accumulating a total of 1,355 pinfalls in the trios event.
The delegation was led by Haji Ali Yusri bin Abdul Ghafor as Team Manager and was coached by Pengiran Saiful Rizal bin Pengiran Haji Yunus as Head Coach.
South Korea won gold after accumulating 1,671 points while Taipei took bronze with 1,304 points.
Other teams included Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Czech Republic, hosts Thailand and Japan.
The event marked the restart of the para bowling events under the World Para Bowling Tour since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The competition is sanctioned by the Thailand Tenpin Bowling Association (TTBA), the Asian Bowling Federation (ABF) and World Para Bowling Federation (WBPF).
