Brunei team to compete in Miri boat race

BRUNEI boat race teams will be among the teams competing in the Sepupok Watersports Festival 2019 on January 26-27 at the Niah River in Miri, Sarawak.

“Besides local entries, we have also received participation from Kanowit, Brunei, and other areas,” the person in-charge of the festival Arbi Jukin said, adding that he hopes to have more participation.

“Participants can still (register) as the closing date is on January 25, and the entries must reach the secretariat before 8pm that day.”

Apart from power boat racing, four categories of long boat races will also be competed, which include 10 paddlers, 15 paddlers, 20 paddlers and 25 paddlers.

Winners will receive cash prizes and trophies.

The preparation for the festival is currently in full swing. Cultural programmes will be held in the evenings during the festival.
