Brunei Darussalam’s national taekwondo athletes will compete in the Kasad 6th Asian Taekwondo Championships, taking place from October 14 to 19 in Tangerang, Indonesia.
Brunei is represented by five athletes: three in Kyorugi and two in Poomsae.
They aim to showcase their skills, discipline and sportsmanship against some of Asia’s top martial artistes, with hopes of bringing home medals and gaining experience to benefit the nation’s taekwondo scene.
The event, hosted by Taekwondo Indonesia and sanctioned by the Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU), features competitors from across Asia in Kyorugi and Poomsae categories. With participants from over 30 Asian nations, the championship highlights the dynamic growth of taekwondo across the continent and offers athletes a chance to compete at an elite level.
For many, the event serves as preparation for future international competitions, including the World Championships and Olympic qualifiers.
Brunei’s national athletes have been training for the championship, reflecting the country’s increasing commitment to taekwondo as both a sport and a cultural discipline. Under the guidance of the Brunei Darussalam Taekwondo Association (BDTA), the team has been refining their skills to meet the high standards of international competition.
