Fadhil Yunus

Brunei Super League is slated to kick off in February 2023, according to the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD).

FABD has also announced that three teams- AKSE Bersatu, Lun Bawang FC and HR FT will compete against each other in a playoff for an opportunity to secure a slot in the league.

The playoff will be played in a one-round league format, with the winner finishing top of the table joining 16 other clubs in the top tier league.

The playoff will also see the return of Lun Bawang since they withdrew their participation from Brunei’s top flight in 2018.

Meanwhile, for AKSE Bersatu and HR FT, this will be their first ever attempt to make it to the Brunei Super League.

The league is expected to conclude in November 2023 with a two-round format. Each participating team will play at least one home and away match.

The last edition was held in 2021, with DPMM FC sitting at the top of the table. However, the league was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
