EIGHT Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre (PTES) and Meragang Sixth Form Centre (PTEM) students represent Brunei Darussalam in the annual Company of the Year Competition organised, hosted and sponsored by JA Asia-Pacific, JA Philippines and FedEx.
FusionBn from PTES, the winner of the 2018 JA Brunei Company of the Year – local competition funded by Baiduri Bank with the support of Ministry of Education and iCentre – and Young Entrepreneur Co, the first runner-up from PTEM left on Sunday for Manila, Philippines for a three-day competition that ends on March 13.
The regional event invites the best teams from Asia-Pacific countries for international youth engagement in entrepreneurship and collaboration. This year there are 20 student companies from 13 Asia-Pacific locations. The participating teams are from Australia, Brunei Darussalam, China, Guam, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
Both FusionBn and Young Entrepreneur Co will take part in a business presentation on their progress, a panel interview, and a public trade fair where they will exhibit their locally designed and made product. Judges will not only look for financial growth, but for teamwork and an understanding of their actions and development.
Assistant Director, Head of Programme and Academics at Department of Schools, Ministry of Education Sarimah binti Abu Bakar; education officers from the Academics Unit, Department of Schools; as well as Head of Retail Banking and Branch Network, Baiduri Bank Berhad Pengiran Azaleen bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha; and Officer at the Group Communications Department, Baiduri Bank Berhad Muiz bin Dato Paduka Haji Adnan were present to see the delegates off at the Brunei International Airport.
