Brunei students in UK’s southern region hold Khatam Al-Quran

THE Brunei Southampton (BruSton) Society hosted a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony for Brunei students of the southern region of the United Kingdom (UK) in conjunction with Brunei Darussalam’s 35th National Day.

The event was held on March 3 at the University of Southampton.

Thirty-five students from the BruSton, Brunei Bath Society (BruBath), Brunei Bristol Society (BruStol), Brunei Cardiff Society (BruSCA), Brunei Exeter Society (BruEx), Brunei Kent Society (BruKent), Brunei Reading Society (BruKnights) and Brunei South East Anglia Society (BruSEA) participated in the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony.

The event started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by guest of honour Director of Studies of the Brunei Students Unit Pengiran Ali Shafie bin Pengiran Haji Abas.

This was followed by the recitation of Al-Quran verses, Takhtim and Dikir Marhaban.

The recitation of Doa Khatam Al-Quran was led by Muhammad Zaeem bin Haji Abdul Majid from the University of Southampton.

Religious Officer of Brunei Students Unit Ustaz Isham Ismail, President of Brunei Students Union Awangku Mohammad Hisyam Al-Yura bin Pengiran Haji Zainal Abidin and President of Bruneian Religious Officers Students Association (BruROSA) Muhammad Aqil bin Awang were also present.

The event also saw religious talks by Pengiran Ali Shafie and Ustaz Isham Ismail.
