The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) officially launched the Brunei Sports and Adventure brochure at the Royal Brunei Recreation Club in Berakas yesterday.
The move is another initiative by the Tourism Development Department to showcase the tourism products available in the country. It offers insights into the recreational sports and adventure activities available. Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin launched the event.
Foreign dignitaries, permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries, senior government officials and Brunei Tourism Board members also attended.
The launching of the Brunei Sports and Adventure brochure and package adds variety to the existing tour packages offered by local travel agents. The package, which sees the collaboration between tourism service providers and travel tour operators, offers 15 activities: Jungle camping and glamping, jungle hiking, mountain biking, Outward Bound, paintball, abseiling/ climbing, standup paddling, watersports, ziplining, 4×4 off-road adventure, all-terrain vehicle (ATV), archery, birdwatching, diving and golf.
Visitors will be spoilt for choice with options such as camping or glamping in the jungles of Temburong, mountain biking over rough terrains; participating in watersport activities such as banana boat rides, jet skiing and parasailing; or exciting team-building activities offered by Outward Bound.
Earlier this year, MPRT officiated the Discover Muara package, the Brunei River Heritage Trail and Kampong Ayer Walking Trail.
The ministers later toured the 18 tourism service exhibitors featured in the brochure.
