Brunei, Singapore reiterate defence ties

Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan and Singapore Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen reiterated their mutual commitment to further strengthen close bilateral defence ties and enhance opportunities, both bilaterally and multilaterally, in areas of mutual interest while contributing to the peace and stability of the region during a courtesy call recently.

Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Muhammad Haszaimi is on an introductory visit to Singapore from June 13 to 15.

Accompanying the RBAF Commander was Director of Intelligence at the Ministry of Defence Colonel (U) Haji Muhammad Muluddin bin Awang Haji Latif.

At the Singapore Ministry of Defence, the RBAF Commander received an honorary salute and inspected the guard of honour.

This proceeded with a courtesy call to Dr Ng Eng Hen, who was accompanied by Chief of Defence Force of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Lieutenant General Dato Paduka Seri Melvyn Ong.

Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Muhammad Haszaimi was then conferred with Singapore’s prestigious military award, the Meritorious Service Medal (Military) by Singapore President Dr Hajah Halimah binti Yacob.

The award was presented by Dr Ng Eng Hen at an investiture at the Singapore Ministry of Defence.

The award was conferred to the RBAF Commander in his capacity as Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF) from 2020 to 2022 for his efforts in fostering and expanding the bilateral relationship between the RBLF and Singapore Army, despite the challenges experienced during the pandemic.

The commander also visited the Aster-30 Squadron at the Lim Chu Kang Camp, as well as the Frigate and Counter-Terrorism Information Facility at Changi Naval Base.

Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Muhammad Haszaimi and delegation were also invited to a dinner hosted by the Chief of Defence Force of the SAF, attended by senior officers of the SAF.

Prior to his introductory visit, the RBAF Commander attended the 19th Shangri-La Dialogue from June 10 to 12 in Singapore.
