Brunei Darussalam today detected a record number of 55 new COVID-19 cases in a single day including a new high of 22 new cases from unknown sources.
With the latest number of infection, the national tally of confirmed cases is now at 598.
Two new clusters have been identified – Cluster 451 and Cluster 477.
In a press conference, Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Md Isham bin Haji Jaafar outlined that there are 16 more cases for Chung Hua KB cluster, 3 more cases for the Immigration cluster, three more cases for 499 cluster, two more cases for 2 ABCi cluster, two more cases for TOTAL Cluster and one more case for the Champion 7 cluster.

Three new cases today are linked to Case 451 that was reported on 11th August 2021 and is now known as 451 cluster and two new cases today is linked to Case 477 also reported on 11th August 202 and this cluster is now known as 477 cluster.
One import case was reported. The case arrived in Brunei Darussalam from United Kingdom on 30th July 2021.
The source of infection of 22 cases today is still being determined where one of the case has links to case 448 that was reported on 11th August 2021.

Cases in Immigration cluster
With the increase of cases in the Immigration Cluster, the minister urged anyone who have visited counters in the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD), Bandar Seri Begawan from 2nd to 9th August 2021 and is currently experiencing symptoms of infection are advise to immediately seek treatment and undergo SARS-CoV-2 test at the nearest swabbing centres.
